Nice Day At The Kelty Homestead

I’m sitting in my home office working.  It’s noon, 60 degrees outside, sunny and green!

Moving Phase II

Well, I thought that big truck would hold everything with room to spare… NOT THE CASE!   The Phase II move was supposed to be me and my dog Rosie taking a nice five day trip across the country, wandering around and exploring, like I've done so many times before.  Unfortunately, we couldn't fit so much stuff I had to rent a 6x12 uHaul trailer to try and take the remaining stuff.  And let me tell you, I still left items in Phoenix!!!

This trip was four days long (way take five, I couldn't go exploring down old dirt roads or small towns with a trailer!) and we were there.  The plan was for me to sleep in the back of the truck because I have it setup for camping with a queen sized matric back there.  But NOPE!  I had stuff in the back of the truck too!!!  So what happened?  I slept in the back of the crew cab, WITH ROSIE!  I really should have gotten a picture of that.   In all fairness, it was actually pretty comfortable.  Rosie's quite the snuggler anyway so she didn't mind 😊

Good bye old house!

Moving Across Country - Phase I

Well, I love to take long road trips and I wanted to save a little money, so I elected to drive a uHaul across country with all our stuff an my wife’s mini-van.  Three days, 2400 miles and I was at the new house.   That was early April.  It was a very long trip but everything went well.  I slept in my wife’s care (I setup a bed back there) and only purchased food once!

The uHaul was brand new, only 90 miles on it when I picked it up.  I averaged about seven miles a gallon across country…

We've Finally Moved!

Well I’ve had some friends say “hey, update your blog” (thanks for the nudge Chitra!) so I guess I better!  My family and I finalized our move to Honeoye Falls, NY and we are starting to unpack…  It’s been months since we purchased the house, but the remodel / clean up went very well.  In some future blogs I’ll show you some before and after pictures.

We are doing well and it’s been an adventure in moving, to say the least.  I drove across country twice, once with a 26’ uHaul truck, towing my wife Honda Odyssey, and the second time w/my truck., towing a uHaul trailer (I can’t believe we had too much to fit in the big truck) and my dog Rosie!  I’ll post some pictures of that shortly as well.

I hope all my Maricopa friends and family are doing well, and weathering what looks like a bit of a storm.  If it helps you any, believe in Dr. Thor.  I saw her turn around Rio when it was in need, and I would work for and follow her anywhere.  She is a true leader and Is open to listening to all sides before making a decision.

Take care for now!  Ed.
